The E3 tops the original E Series trio: an aluminium cantilever carrying a bonded super-elliptical (0.3 x 0.7 mil) stylus. Its smaller front-to-back radius picks up more detail and tames sibilance on vocals. It is also the cartridge fitted to Goldring’s GR3 turntable.

About the Goldring E3 Moving Magnet Cartridge
The E3 has the same aluminium cantilever as the E2 but a finer stylus. Goldring say the smaller front-to-back radius retrieves more high-frequency detail than an ordinary elliptical or spherical stylus, with the biggest effect being less sibilance on loud vocal recordings. It has a purple stylus carrier.
Goldring’s awards page lists a What Hi-Fi? Award for the E3 (2020). Like the rest of the E Series it uses Magnetic Duplex Technology, with two angled magnets that copy the cutting head, and it leaves the factory with azimuth already set.
It is the one to choose for a budget or mid-priced turntable when you want the most from the E Series without moving to the E4 or the 1000 Series. Connect it to an MM or phono input.

Questions about the Goldring E3 Moving Magnet Cartridge
Is it sold as a pair?
No. It is one cartridge, which is all a turntable needs: it plays both stereo channels.
How long does the stylus last?
Goldring say an elliptical diamond stylus can last up to 1,000 hours with proper care. Check it regularly, and replace it promptly once it is worn or damaged. Goldring make a replacement E3 stylus.
Which input do I connect it to?
It is a moving magnet cartridge, so connect it to the MM or “phono” input of your amplifier or phono stage. Goldring advise using that input only.
Will it fit my tonearm?
Goldring list a standard 12.7 mm (0.5 in) fixing centre, which is the usual spacing on most headshells and tonearms. Tell us your deck and tonearm and we will confirm it fits.
