About the Goldring E1 Moving Magnet Cartridge

The E1 is the most affordable cartridge in Goldring’s E Series. Its spherical stylus is forgiving of small errors in set-up, and Goldring say the carbon-fibre cantilever gives comparable results to pricier materials in most entry-level systems.

Every E Series cartridge uses Goldring’s Magnetic Duplex Technology: two small magnets angled at 45 degrees to match the cutting head, each working with its own coil, for better stereo separation. Azimuth is set before the cartridge leaves the factory, so a typical turntable needs no adjustment.

It is made for the budget and mid-priced decks that most people own, and it connects to the MM (phono) input of an amplifier or phono stage. If your current cartridge is worn out or no longer made, the E1 is an easy replacement on any tonearm with standard half-inch fixing centres.

Genuine UK stock from an authorised Goldring dealer. Not sure which cartridge suits your turntable? Tell us the deck and tonearm and we will suggest one. See our audio and video work.

Questions about the Goldring E1 Moving Magnet Cartridge

Is it sold as a pair?

No. It is one cartridge, which is all a turntable needs: it plays both stereo channels.

What comes with it?

Goldring’s E Series instructions refer to the mounting screws and Allen key supplied with the cartridge, and to a stylus guard that stays on until you are ready to set the tracking force.

Which input do I connect it to?

It is a moving magnet cartridge, so connect it to the MM or “phono” input of your amplifier or phono stage. Goldring advise using that input only.

How long does the stylus last?

Goldring say a spherical diamond stylus can last up to 500 hours if it is looked after. Check it regularly and replace it as soon as it is worn or damaged. Goldring make a replacement stylus for the E1, so you do not need a new cartridge.
