About the Goldring 1006 Moving Magnet Cartridge
The 1000 Series is Goldring’s hand-built moving magnet range. Each cartridge has a one-piece body in glass-reinforced polyester (Pocan) that bolts firmly to the headshell, a mu-metal shield against hum, two formerless coils of 4,000 turns each and a tiny Alnico V magnet. The whole cartridge weighs under 6.5 g.
In the 1006 the stylus is a bonded elliptical. Goldring say its shape traces the finest, highest-frequency groove detail better than a spherical stylus, and the light shank gives it lower tip mass than cheaper metal-bonded types, for a better transient response.
The stylus carrier slots into the body on a locating pin, so you can renew the stylus yourself. Output is 5 mV, so it works with a standard MM phono input, and Goldring recommend tonearms of 5–25 g effective mass.

Questions about the Goldring 1006 Moving Magnet Cartridge
Is it sold as a pair?
No. It is one cartridge, which is all a turntable needs: it plays both stereo channels.
Can I replace the stylus myself?
Yes. The 1000 Series has a user-replaceable stylus carrier. Goldring make a replacement stylus for the 1006.
Which input do I connect it to?
It is a moving magnet cartridge, so connect it to the MM or “phono” input of your amplifier or phono stage. Goldring advise using that input only.
Will it fit my tonearm?
Goldring list a standard 12.7 mm (0.5 in) fixing centre, which is the usual spacing on most headshells and tonearms. Tell us your deck and tonearm and we will confirm it fits.
