About the Goldring E4 Moving Magnet Cartridge
A nude stylus is a single piece of diamond rather than a diamond bonded to a metal shank. Goldring say that gives the E4 lower effective tip mass, more rigidity and better high-frequency detail than a bonded elliptical, and a polished 7.6 micron profile that sits well in tightly packed inner grooves.
The hollow aluminium cantilever is light and stiff, which helps the stylus follow medium and high frequencies with less mistracking. Magnetic Duplex Technology and factory-set azimuth carry over from the other E Series cartridges.
Goldring designed it as the ultimate upgrade for modern budget and mid-priced turntables. Their spec recommends tonearms with an effective mass of 5–20 g, so check your arm before ordering. Connect it to an MM or phono input.

Questions about the Goldring E4 Moving Magnet Cartridge
Is it sold as a pair?
No. It is one cartridge, which is all a turntable needs: it plays both stereo channels.
Is my tonearm suitable?
Goldring’s specification recommends a tonearm effective mass of 5–20 g. Tell us your deck and tonearm and we will check it for you.
Which input do I connect it to?
It is a moving magnet cartridge, so connect it to the MM or “phono” input of your amplifier or phono stage. Goldring advise using that input only.
What is a nude stylus?
It is a stylus cut from one piece of diamond, rather than a diamond tip bonded onto a metal shank. That keeps the moving mass low, which is what lets the stylus follow fine detail in the groove.
