About the SR80 Classic Open-Back Headphones

The Classic Series is Grado’s 2026 core range of open-back, hand-built Brooklyn headphones. It is built around the X2 driver platform and takes over from the earlier X-series models. Grado calls the SR80 the best-selling headphone it has ever made, and in this range it also takes in features from the older SR125 and SR225.

The F cushions sit the driver closer to the ear for an energetic, immediate sound. The headband is the standard Grado design with a padded synthetic strap and a steel spring band for adjusting the fit, and the Bronze cable is fixed. Other Grado cushion styles fit if you want to change the balance.

Being open-back, the SR80 leaks sound, so it is for the study, the living room or the office rather than the train. Plug it into a headphone amplifier, streamer or hi-fi system for the best results.

Questions about the SR80 Classic Open-Back Headphones

What is the difference between the SR60 and SR80?

Both use the 44 mm X2 driver. The SR80 has F cushions and tuning that gives tighter bass, a more forward midrange and more high-frequency detail, so it sounds more immediate.

Do they leak sound?

Yes. They are open-back, so others nearby will hear your music, and you will hear the room around you.

Can I swap the cushions or cable?

The cushions can be swapped for other Grado styles. The cable is fixed.

Will they work with my phone or laptop?

Their 38 ohm impedance and 98 dB sensitivity make them easy to drive. Tell us what you will connect them to and we will check you have the right plug or adapter.
