About the SR60 Classic Open-Back Headphones

The Classic Series is Grado’s 2026 core range of open-back, hand-built Brooklyn headphones. It is built around the X2 driver platform and takes over from the earlier X-series models. The SR60 is the way in, and Grado calls it the most direct path into its lineup.

It has a standard headband with a padded synthetic strap and a steel spring band, so you can set the clamping pressure to suit your head. The cable is fixed rather than detachable. S cushions give a smooth, relaxed sound, and like every Grado you can swap cushion styles later to change the balance a little.

Like all open-back headphones, the SR60 lets sound out as well as in. That gives a wide, natural sound, but people nearby will hear it too, so it is best in a quiet room. It works with a headphone amplifier, streamer, DAC or hi-fi system.

Questions about the SR60 Classic Open-Back Headphones

Are the SR60 open-back or closed-back?

Open-back. The sound is wide and natural, but it also leaks out, so they are not for noisy places or for listening when others need quiet.

Do I need a headphone amplifier?

Not always. At 38 ohms and 98 dB they are easy to drive, so most amplifiers, streamers and DACs with a headphone output will do. A good headphone amplifier will get more from them.

Can I change the cable or the ear cushions?

The cable is fixed. The cushions can be swapped for other Grado styles, and each one shifts the sound a little. Ask us if you would like to try another pair.

Which plug do they have?
