About the Grado Hemp Classic Open-Back Headphones

The Classic Series is Grado’s 2026 core range of open-back, hand-built Brooklyn headphones. It is built around the X2 driver platform and takes over from the earlier X-series models. The Hemp joined the range as a permanent model after its limited release.

Grado uses hempwood for its natural damping and warmth, with maple for stability next to the driver, and hemp fibres can be replenished far faster than traditional hardwoods. The tuning favours a fuller, more grounded sound. The cable ends in a 3.5 mm plug with a 6.3 mm adapter, and F cushions come fitted.

Open-back means an airy, natural sound and some leakage, so use it where others will not be disturbed. It works with a headphone amplifier, DAC or streamer.

Genuine UK stock from an authorised Grado dealer. Not sure which pair suits your amplifier or your music? Ask us and we will help you choose. See our audio and video work.

Questions about the Grado Hemp Classic Open-Back Headphones

Is this the same as the limited-edition Hemp?

It is the Classic Series version of the model Grado first released in 2020 as a limited edition. It is now a permanent part of the range.

Can I use it with a hi-fi headphone socket?

Grado lists the plug as 3.5 mm with a 6.3 mm adapter, so it can connect to a 3.5 mm socket or, with the adapter, a 6.3 mm hi-fi headphone socket.

Will every pair look the same?

The wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary from pair to pair.
