About the QED Supremus Zr Speaker Cable (Pair)

Supremus Zr is QED’s next-generation flagship speaker cable. The conductors are 32 solid-core, silver-plated, oxygen-free copper strands with a 6.2 mm² (10 AWG) cross-section, giving very low loop resistance of 0.005 Ω/m. They are cryogenically treated and laid out in QED’s Aircore design.

The Zr model uses zirconia, a hard ceramic, for the plug barrels and boots. It resists wear, and being electrically inert, it stops eddy currents building up in the plug body. Inside, rhodium-plated beryllium copper pins lock onto the speaker terminal when you twist the barrel tight, and Airloc cold-welding joins plug and conductor with no air in the joint.

It sits in QED’s Signature range. Use it for a reference-level system. Hi-Fi News gave it an Editor’s Choice award, and The Audiophile Man a Deeply Groovy award.

Is the price for a pair?

Yes. Supremus Zr is sold as a pair, so you get one cable for each speaker at the length you choose.

Which lengths are there?

There are five: 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, 4 m and 5 m. Measure the route to each speaker and choose the next length up.

How do the plugs lock?

Twist the plug barrel until it is tight. That expands the contact and clamps the plug pins into the speaker terminal.
