About the Grado Signature HP100 SE Open-Back Headphones

The Signature Line is Grado’s high-end range. Every model has a detachable cable and an updated Signature headband, and the line grew out of the HP100 SE. The HP100 SE is where it started, and the first Grado to have detachable cables.

It honours the Signature HP1 that Joseph Grado created in the early 1990s, but it is a new design from the ground up. The aluminium housings are machined and engraved, the paper composite cone is driven by a rare-earth magnetic circuit with a lightweight voice coil, and the braided 12-conductor cable connects to each cup with a 4-pin mini XLR. The headband has 50% more padding than earlier Grado designs.

Like the rest of the line it is open-back, so it is for listening at home. It deserves a first-class headphone amplifier.

Grado calls it a Special Edition, made to mark Joseph Grado’s 100th birthday. It is part of the current Signature Line.

What is in the box?

Grado lists the headphones, a 6 ft cable with a 6.3 mm plug and the warranty.

Can I use a balanced cable?

Yes. The headphones take a 4-pin mini XLR at each cup, and Grado offers balanced 4-pin XLR and 4.4 mm cables for the Signature Line. Ask us what suits your amplifier.
