About the QED Reference Optical Quartz Cable
Most optical audio cables use acrylic fibre. Reference Optical Quartz uses 210 separate boro-silicate glass fibres, each 50 microns across. QED say that gives a much higher bandwidth, over 150MHz, and about a tenth of the attenuation of acrylic fibres.
The bandwidth is not affected by bending the cable, and the fibre bundle is highly flexible. It has a stepped refractive index and is designed for ultra-low jitter, with compatibility for 24- and 32-bit high-resolution audio.
It sits in QED’s Reference range. Use it between a DAC, TV, CD player, Blu-ray player or games console and a receiver or amplifier with a Toslink input.
Genuine UK stock from an authorised QED dealer. Not sure which cable suits your system? Tell us what you have and we will suggest the right one. We install hi-fi, home cinema and multi-room audio across the New Forest and the south coast. See our audio and video work.

Questions about the QED Reference Optical Quartz Cable
Is it one cable?
Yes. It is a single optical lead with a Toslink plug at each end.
Is it more fragile than an acrylic optical cable?
It is a glass-fibre cable, so treat it with care, but QED describe the fibre bundle as highly flexible and say its bandwidth is not affected by bending.
Which length should I choose?
It comes in 0.6 m, 1 m, 2 m and 3 m. Measure between the two components and choose the next length up.
