About the DD15 CD Transport
A transport leaves the digital-to-analogue conversion to another box. That makes sense if you already own a DAC you like, or an amplifier or preamp with a good one built in. The DD15 concentrates on reading the disc quietly and passing the data on cleanly.
It shares its three-quarter-width case and slot-load drive with the CD15 Prisma, so it suits a stack with the SC15 Prisma preamplifier and network player, the I15 amplifiers or the R15 phono stage.
Output is by coaxial or optical. IR, 12 V trigger and RS232 connections let it switch on and off with the rest of a system.

Can the DD15 play CDs on its own?
Only into a DAC. It has no analogue outputs, so it needs a DAC, or an amplifier, preamp or streamer with a digital input.
