Custom Control4 Drivers: Why We Build Them, and How We Can Build One for You
Control4 is brilliant at bringing a home or building together, until you hit a device it can't talk to. Maybe it's a camera recorder, an AV matrix or another automation system. Either nobody has written a driver for it, or the one that exists barely scratches the surface.
As certified Control4 partners, we know the platform well. And when there's no driver that does the job, we write our own.
What is a Control4 driver?
A driver is a small piece of software that teaches Control4 how to talk to a device. It defines what commands to send, what to listen for, and how the device appears in the app and on the touchscreen. A good driver makes a third-party device feel like a native part of the system.

Why we build our own
There isn't one. Newer or niche equipment often has no Control4 driver at all.
The existing one is too basic. Generic drivers cover the minimum. Our clients want proper status feedback, not just an on/off button.
One app, one experience. Clients shouldn't need a second remote or app to control part of their own home.
Better kit choices. We can recommend the right product for the job, not just whatever already has a driver.
We know the code. When we wrote it, we can support it, fix it and improve it.
What we work on
We've been developing drivers for AV-over-IP matrix systems, CCTV and NVR platforms (camera feeds, motion events and PTZ control), and links between Control4 and other automation platforms such as Loxone. We're based in the New Forest, but drivers are software, so we can work with homeowners and integrators anywhere.
How we can build one for you

Tell us what you need. Which device, and what do you want it to do?
We check it's possible. If a device can be controlled over a network, serial or similar connection, we can usually write a driver for it.
We build it. We write the driver and make sure it shows up properly in Composer Pro.
We test it. Real-world testing on your equipment before it goes live.
We install and support it. You get a ready-to-install driver, and we handle updates as things change.
What we'll need from you
The make and model of the device
Any manuals or API documentation you have
A wish list of the features you want
Access to the equipment for testing, where possible
Got a device Control4 doesn't support?
Get in touch and tell us what you're trying to control. We'll tell you honestly whether a custom driver is the right answer.
