The DM36 is the digital-to-analogue converter module for Primare’s modular I25, I35 and PRE35. It adds four optical, two coaxial and one USB input, an ESS ES9068A DAC and PCM up-sampling.

About the DM36 DAC Module

Fit the DM36 to an I25, I35 or PRE35 and it becomes the DAC version of that model. It replaced the earlier DM35, which Primare has now discontinued, and it is the DAC used in every current DAC and Prisma version of those three models.

The ESS ES9068A chipset handles up to 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD256 over USB, and up to 192 kHz/24-bit on the optical and coaxial inputs. An optional up-sampling setting raises 44.1 and 48 kHz signals to 88.2 and 96 kHz. A coaxial output passes digital inputs through.

The DM36 is also the first step to streaming: the SM35 Prisma module needs a DAC module in place in the I25, I35 and PRE35.

Do I need it for streaming?

Yes, in the I25, I35 and PRE35. The SM35 Prisma module needs a DAC module fitted first.

Can I fit it myself?

It goes inside the unit, so we suggest dealer fitting. Ask us when you order and we can arrange it.
